Embedded Insurance for Trade Platforms

Your platform already has the customer relationship.

Insurance is the revenue line you haven’t turned on.

Trade platforms and builders’ merchants are sitting on high-intent purchase journeys — precisely the moment when tradespeople and contractors need liability cover, tool insurance, or tradesman protection. Quotall puts those products into the purchase journey without requiring you to become an insurer or apply to the FCA.

THE REVENUE SITTING IN YOUR TRANSACTION DATA

Tradespeople buy materials, tools, and equipment through platforms like yours because they trust the product range and the relationship. What they’re not buying — yet — is the insurance they need to use those products professionally.

That’s not a customer behaviour problem. It’s a distribution gap. The insurance exists. The purchase intent exists. What’s missing is the infrastructure to put the right product in front of the right buyer at the right moment — without complexity on your side.

Most trade platforms have looked at this and concluded it’s too difficult: too much regulatory overhead, too many insurer relationships to manage, too far from the core business. That conclusion is no longer accurate.

Embedded insurance for trade platforms.

Quotall provides the end-to-end infrastructure that allows trade platforms and marketplaces to offer insurance products directly within their purchase journeys.

You control the brand experience. We handle the insurer relationships, compliance infrastructure, product configuration, claims handling, and regulatory pathway.

What that means in practice: a tradesperson buying power tools on your platform can be offered tool insurance, liability cover, or tradesman protection at the point of purchase — without leaving your checkout, and without an FCA licence from you.

The integration connects to your existing platform via a single API. The products are configured for the trade sector. The regulatory route — whether the Connected Contract Exemption or an Appointed Representative arrangement — is determined by your business model and managed by Quotall.

A new margin line on existing transaction volume

Generic insurance doesn’t convert in a trade context. Products embedded through Quotall are configured for the purchasing behaviour of tradespeople and contractors — tools, liability, employer liability where relevant. Relevance at the point of purchase drives attach.

No FCA authorisation required in most cases

The Connected Contract Exemption removes the need for FCA authorisation as an insurance intermediary for many trade platform operators distributing insurance directly connected to their products. Where the CCE doesn’t apply, the Appointed Representative route provides a fully managed alternative. Either way, the compliance infrastructure is Quotall’s responsibility — not yours.

Live in weeks, not a procurement cycle

Quotall’s managed service covers insurer panel, product design, API integration, and ongoing operations. A trade platform can go from initial conversation to live proposition in weeks.

How it works

Step 1 — Scoping conversation
We map your transaction data, customer profile, and product mix to identify the highest-value insurance opportunity for your platform. One conversation.

Step 2 — Product and regulatory configuration
We design the product, determine the regulatory route, and configure the integration for your checkout. You review and approve the customer-facing journey — it stays on-brand and within your UX.

Step 3 — Go live
The API connects. Your customers see relevant insurance at the right moment. Commission accrues from day one. Quotall manages all servicing, claims handling, and regulatory compliance from here.

SGS Engineering added embedded insurance to the purchase journey for their high-value tools through SGS Protect — a proposition built on the Quotall platform.

The result was a live insurance revenue stream, activated within the existing ecommerce journey, without internal insurance infrastructure. Read the SGS Engineering case study →
